Our Little Tree

If you’ve ever been to our little chateau on Gladstone, especially at Mardi Gras, you’ve seen our little tree out front. Tonight…we lost him.

The rains and high winds took him out tonight smashing him down in the cold hard rain crashing into the unearthly concrete in a flashing thundering downpour. The beads have fallen off, the birds nest exploded all over the driveway. My oldest Lewis is heartbroken along with the rest of us. Fragmented, shattered, split. Been there. But in life, just like in nature, tomorrow is a new day. I’ll clean him up, remove the imperfect brokenness and plant something new. It will be a small life lesson for my children and a big reminder to me.

PS. If a tree falls on Gladstone, we definitely hear it.
